JOB SUMMARY Reporting to the Director of Nursing, the Registered Nurse (RN) ensures the general well-being of residents by providing nursing care and services for residents in a manner and environment that provides dignity and full recognition of each resident’s individuality. The RN serves as the charge nurse in the absence of the Director of Nursing and Assistant Director of Nursing. The RN respectfully interacts with all residents, family members, visitors, colleagues and staff. This is a safety sensitive position. Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university
  • Licensed Florida RN; required to maintain licensure
  • Current CPR certification required
  • Two or more years of related experience and/or training in geriatrics in long term care, home health or other health care setting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer literacy which includes, but is not limited to, Microsoft Office suite
  • Thinking critically; defined as reading, understanding and taking appropriate action on detailed and complex information
  • Standing for long periods of time
  • Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs
  • Pushing a wheelchair with a resident weighing up to 200 lbs
  • Repetitive actions/motion of one or both hands
  • Hearing ordinary conversation and office sounds
  • Verbal communication in person and on the phone
  • Written communication by hand and on PC

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the charge nurse in the absence of the DON
  • Assures resident safety
  • Provides total nursing care for skilled nursing facility residents
  • Observes and reports symptoms and conditions of residents
  • Maintains timely and accurate records on residents’ condition, medication and treatment
  • Develops resident care plan
  • Assists in maintaining a physical, social and psychological environment that is conducive to the best interest and welfare of the patients
  • Assists physicians as needed and requested
  • Requisitions supplies and services
  • Assists in the training and supervision of nursing service personnel
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job
