The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for utilizing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation and evaluation) to provide individualized nursing care to patients. This role involves scheduling outpatient diagnostic and therapeutic services and patient admissions, while also assisting in providing quick, easy, and appropriate access to all patient services at Sanford USD Medical Center. The RN communicates patient information regarding testing and procedures to clinic staff and ensures documentation of medical necessity aligns with regulatory guidelines, including Medicare Local and National Coverage Decisions. The position acts as a resource for clinic staff on testing and procedures, works with departments to resolve complex scheduling issues by adapting services to patient needs, and provides patient teaching for testing and diagnostic procedures. The role requires a breadth of clinical expertise, a broad background of clinical experience, and an understanding of the growth and developmental needs of all age groups.
