Located in historic Bristol, Pennsylvania, the Hospital is well-known for its knowledgeable medical staff, including cardiology, orthopedics, radiology, wound care, and general surgery. The hospital has more than 200 physicians on staff, as well as another 700 employees. The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. This role provides direct patient care within the scope of practice, directs and guides patient/family teaching, and oversees activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining professional nursing care standards in Telemetry and the Emergency Department. The RN is directly responsible and accountable for patient care in the Emergency Department, communicating with physicians about changes in patient clinical condition, diagnostic study results, and symptomatology. The nurse must be capable of responding quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition and/or treatment response, and be knowledgeable about EMTALA regulations and reporting child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies and the Hospital Social Worker. Maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality is also a key aspect of the role.

Requirements

  • Current and valid state RN License.
  • Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
  • Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
  • Basic Arrythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
  • Minimum of one year experience as a staff nurse RN in an acute care hospital setting.
  • MICN within 12 months of hire and maintain current (In Paramedic Base Station ED, if applicable).
  • Completion of emergency pediatric course 1 and 2 within 6 months of hire (EDAP certified facilities, if applicable).
  • NRP certificate 90 days upon hire and maintain current (Non-OB facilities, if applicable).
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNNC) within 12 months of hire required.

Nice To Haves

  • E.R. setting experience preferred.
  • Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
  • Provide direct patient care within the scope of practice.
  • Direct and guide patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing care in Telemetry.
  • Be directly responsible and accountable for the care given to his/her patients in the Emergency Department.
  • Communicate with the physician about the changes in the patient's clinical condition including results of the diagnostic studies and symptomatology.
  • Respond quickly and accurately to changes in the condition and/or response to treatment.
  • Be knowledgeable about EMTALA regulations and reporting of child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies and Hospital Social Worker.
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
