The Registered Nurse will be responsible for timely and accurate assessment, planning, and delivery of nursing care to patients, including contacting practitioners for orders, administering prescribed medication and treatments, providing emergency first aid care, and performing diagnostic tests on-site. The role involves triaging officer intake screenings, collecting and recording data for statistical reporting, documenting information in chronic clinic and outcome study documents, and reporting reactions to treatments and changes in patient condition. The nurse will also provide patient education, record care information concisely and accurately, collaborate on medical services, maintain aseptic techniques and infection control, and demonstrate working knowledge of pharmacology, therapeutic diets, and social/behavioral sciences as applied to a correctional institutional setting. Additional duties include recommending improved procedures, notifying supervisors of incidents, participating in in-service education, performing duties within the scope of practice, maintaining patient confidentiality, overseeing and delegating duties, potentially covering shifts at multiple correctional facilities, acting as a back-up to the H.S.A/Site Manager, and training new hires and coworkers.
