About The Position

Join St. Mary's Hospital in Kankakee as a Telemetry Nurse for a full-time night position. This role involves caring for a diverse patient population with a focus on cardiac monitoring and stroke recovery within a high-acuity specialty in a supportive hospital setting. Responsibilities include providing compassionate, patient-centered care, monitoring and interpreting telemetry readings, and performing routine RN duties such as assessments, bedside dialysis, and medication administration. The nurse will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support recovery and improve outcomes. The hospital fosters a family-oriented community with strong teamwork, long-tenured RNs and leadership dedicated to mentoring and growth, making it a great environment for both experienced RNs and new graduates. A $10,000 retention bonus is also available.

Requirements

  • Current and valid state RN License.
  • Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
  • Basic Arrythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Acute Care hospital experience preferred.
  • Ventilator Management experience preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
  • Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice.
  • Directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of care in the Med/Surg/Telemetry Unit.
  • Directly responsible and accountable for the care given to their assigned patients.
  • Communicates with the physician about changes in the patient’s clinical condition including cardiac monitoring, results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology.
  • Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition and/or response to treatment.
