Director of Operations Home Health Responsible for overall organization and financial management of the Home Health agency, direction of agency operations and functions according to approved policies, procedures and standards. Ensures the delivery of quality care to patients, enhancement of business development, and continuous improvement of agency efficiency and fiscal success.

Requirements

  • Registered nurse OR a health care professional licensed to practice in the state with supervisory or management experience in a health care setting OR an individual with education, training and experience in health service administration with management experience in a health care setting.
  • Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) documents the following: The mutual recognition model of nurse licensure allows a nurse to have one license (in his or her state of residency) and to practice in other states (both physical and electronic), subject to each state's practice law and regulation. Nurses must legally reside in a NLC state to be eligible to have a multi-state license.
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience as a registered nurse with one (1) of these years consisting of full-time experience in providing direct patient care in the home health setting (or) A minimum of 2 years of home care experience and at least one year of supervisory experience is required
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Federal, state, local and ACHC regulations.
  • Demonstrates organizational and communication skills which would enable effective interaction with agency staff, patients, families, physicians, health care providers, and the community.
  • Possesses current driver's license, agency required liability insurance, and reliable automobile transportation.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Must be familiar with general use and functions of the computer, such as, user names and password concepts; internet; e-mail; navigation of computer desktop, including starting programs, using files, and windows, effectively use navigation buttons and tool bars; ability to self-manage online HR services and online training programs.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for and causes Agency's compliance with all regulations, laws, policies and procedures applicable to home health and reimbursement issues.
  • Educates all staff members about state and federal rules and regulations as well as ACHC, and other regulatory agencies standards.
  • Oversees the implementation of agency policies and procedures.
  • Acts as a liaison between staff, patients, physicians, and other health care providers.
  • Ensures that all services are billed as provided to the proper payor source.
  • Analyzes available reimbursable data, identifies trends and initiates appropriate plans of action.
  • Collaborates with appropriate staff to complete billing adjustments and maintenance of accurate records of these adjustments.
  • Continually monitors clinical episode management and provides direction/redirection as warranted.
  • Directs weekly business development and management team meetings with all appropriate staff and other members of the medical community to promote home care services.
  • Provides input, guidance and feedback related to marketing activities and agency marketing plan to ensure that goals for growth are met.
  • Participates in marketing activities as appropriate.
  • Participates in staff recruitment, hiring, orientation, assignment, evaluation and guidance to ensure employment of an adequate number of qualified staff through use of required and expected standards provided in each position's job description.
  • Appropriately assigns and directs staff with appropriate skills to perform duties.
  • Coaches, directs and encourages staff through use of formal and informal means.
  • Manages and evaluates the health services program to ensure quality of service and maintenance of policy standards.
  • Provides leadership in planning for staff education programs, administrative/staff meetings, in-services, and encourages continuous education and staff development for all personnel.
  • Assists and coordinates, with the Area Vice President of Operations, the budget development process, implementation and evaluation.
  • Ensures a comprehensive, documented, and updated quality assurance program through timely submission of performance improvement reports and participates in the performance improvement program of the agency.
  • Is available, or ensures similarly qualified alternate is available, at all times during operating hours.
  • Provides guidance and assistance to the Area Vice President of Operations in matters relating to the delivery of quality home health services.
  • Provides reports as directed related to fiscal information and statistical trends within the agency.
  • Assists with the orientation of new staff members.
  • Makes consultative/supervisory home visits with staff as needed, as appropriate.
  • Plans and executes special events which serve to advance staff, patient and community relations.
  • Ensures the implementation and compliance with the Respiratory Protection Plan.
  • Evaluates at least annually and conducts training initially and annually.
  • Participates in special projects as needed.
