About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) plays a critical role in delivering comprehensive healthcare services with a focus on substance abuse and behavioral health. This position involves providing direct patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing interventions tailored to individuals struggling with addiction and related behavioral health challenges. The RN will serve as a patient advocate, ensuring that patients receive compassionate, evidence-based care while educating them and their families about treatment options and health maintenance. Requirements

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the United States.
  • Completion of an accredited nursing program (Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of substance abuse and behavioral health principles.
  • Experience in direct patient care within healthcare or behavioral health settings.
  • Certification in Addiction Nursing (e.g., Certified Addictions Registered Nurse - CARN).
  • Experience working in behavioral health or substance abuse treatment facilities.
  • Advanced certifications such as Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing Certification (PMH-BC).
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and healthcare informatics.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments focusing on substance abuse and behavioral health conditions.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans in collaboration with healthcare teams.
  • Provide direct patient care including medication administration, monitoring vital signs, and managing withdrawal symptoms.
  • Educate patients and their families on disease processes, treatment plans, and strategies for relapse prevention.
  • Advocate for patient needs and coordinate referrals to appropriate community resources and support services.
  • Document patient progress and maintain accurate, confidential medical records in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care and update treatment plans accordingly.
  • Stay current with best practices and emerging trends in substance abuse and behavioral health nursing.
