Practicing under their own professional license, the RN is accountable and responsible for the quality of nursing care delivered to patients and their families, adhering to established standards of nursing practice. The RN promotes patient safety, exercises sound clinical judgment, and maintains professional competence through reflection, self-assessment, self-care, and a commitment to lifelong learning and professional development. Requirements

  • Required: Registered Nurse Licensure from the Texas State Board of Nursing or Compact Licensure.
  • Required: BLS (CPR) Certification.
  • Required: Reads, writes, and communicates effectively in English.
  • Emergency Department: ACLS within 6 months of employment - TNCC within 12 months

Responsibilities

  • Assessment: Perform comprehensive initial and ongoing patient assessments; analyze data to identify health needs and changes in condition.
  • Care Planning: Develop and coordinate individualized nursing care plans, including patient goals, education, and health promotion.
  • Implementation: Provide and delegate nursing care within legal, ethical, and regulatory guidelines to promote safety and wellness.
  • Supervision: Assign and supervise LVNs and unlicensed personnel based on competency, patient condition, and scope of practice.
  • Evaluation: Monitor patient outcomes, reassess conditions, and modify care plans as needed.
  • Communication: Collaborate and communicate effectively with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team; document care accurately.
  • Clinical Judgment: Use critical thinking and evidence-based practice to support safe, high-quality patient care.
  • Professional Standards: Maintain professional boundaries, protect patient privacy, and comply with organizational policies and nursing regulations.
  • Professional Development: Demonstrate accountability for continued competence through ongoing learning and self-reflection.
  • Other Duties: Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support patient care and organizational goals.
