The Registered Nurse prescribes nursing care, delegates nursing activities, and coordinates the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care to provide optimal quality care, consistent with the health care system’s mission and, nursing philosophy, objectives, and standards. Has full access to patient health information. Assesses patient’s needs. Accurately analyzes the assessment data collected, identifies problem(s) and formulates appropriate nursing interventions. Utilizes appropriate Standards of Care, policies and procedures in developing plan of care. Institutes appropriate protective/preventative measures when indicated. Identifies and provides appropriate education relevant to the patient’s plan of care during visit. Evaluates patient’s response to education and makes referrals to other disciplines when appropriate. Demonstrates basic knowledge of actions/side effects of medications and administers medications safely. Evaluates patient responses to treatments when they are completed. Handles patient complaints. Establishes patient payment schedules. Enter patient registration and discharge information. Performs the correct posting of all insurance payments/charges and filing of all statements/claims. Ensures accurate procedure/diagnosis codes and adjustments to patient accounts. Assists with the physician schedule, which includes on-call, in-office, and hospital schedules. Contributes toward the revision of practice policies and procedures, job descriptions, and fee schedules as requested.
