About The Position

Beloit Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse for immediate openings in their Medical/Surgical Unit at Beloit Memorial Hospital. This role involves providing primary nursing care to patients in a fast-paced medical surgical department, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to promote recovery from various medical or surgical conditions. The Registered Nurse will administer IV medications, monitor patient condition changes, and accurately document care in the EMR. Key responsibilities include planning, coordinating, supervising, and providing care for patients across their lifespan, assessing physical, psychological, and social needs, and implementing patient care plans. The nurse is also responsible for patient/family education, strict adherence to infection control policies, active participation in Quality Improvement programs, and performing unit-specific duties. The position requires effective goal setting, prioritizing patient care based on acuity, and ensuring patient safety from hazards, falls, and disease exposure. Proficiency with computer software applications relevant to the position is also expected.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing (ADN, Diploma, BSN, or MSN degree acceptable)
  • State of Wisconsin nursing licensure, compact license or temporary permit required
  • If a compact license, application for a State of Wisconsin nursing license must be initiated in no more than 30 days from start date
  • Must be CPR certified within 3 months of hire
  • Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply proper procedures to Beloit Health System policies
  • Employee possesses the training, knowledge, and skills necessary to perform the following activities (evaluation, treatment, and patient care) for patients in one or more of the following age groups: neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric
  • Successful completion of pre-placement physical examination

Responsibilities

  • Provide primary nursing care for patients in our fast-paced medical surgical department
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to promote recovery from a variety of medical or surgical conditions
  • Administer intermittent and continuous IV medications and monitor condition changes to optimize patient recovery
  • Accurately document in the EMR
  • Plan, coordinate, supervise and provide care for clients throughout their life span within the framework of the well/illness continuum
  • Provide optimal service in a cost-effective manner
  • Appropriately assess basic physical, psychological and social needs of patients and their families
  • Effectively plan patient care
  • Consistently implement the patient's plan of care
  • Accurately evaluate patient's health status in relation to outcomes of nursing interventions/medical therapies
  • Provide patient/family education appropriately
  • Strictly adhere to infection control policies including body substance isolation and blood born pathogen precautions
  • Actively participate in Quality Improvement program
  • Perform unit specific duties according to established unit-based competencies
  • Complete documentation according to policy
  • Effectively set goals and priorities for provision of care to a group of patients according to acuity
  • Ensure patient safety while handling, transporting and providing medications to patients
  • Protect patients from various hazards, falls, disease exposure, etc.
  • Demonstrate ability to perform functions accurately and efficiently with computer software application appropriate to position
  • Other duties as assigned
