About The Position

Riccobene Associates family dentistry is currently seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) – Oral Surgery for our North Myrtle Beach practice. Job Summary The Registered Nurse (RN) for Oral Surgery provides clinical and surgical nursing support to the oral and maxillofacial surgeon, ensuring safe, high-quality patient care throughout the surgical experience. This role focuses on patient assessment, IV sedation support, intraoperative monitoring, post-operative care, and patient education in an outpatient oral surgery setting. Schedule: Must be able to work Monday-Thursday 7:30am-2pm (1 day in our Shallotte, NC location)

Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state
  • Current BLS/CPR certification
  • Experience in a procedural, surgical, or outpatient clinical setting
  • Strong understanding of patient monitoring, medication administration, and emergency response
  • Excellent clinical judgment and attention to detail
  • Calm, confident approach in fast-paced and high-acuity situations
  • Strong communication and patient education skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment
  • Physical ability to assist with procedures and patient recovery

Nice To Haves

  • IV sedation or anesthesia experience
  • ACLS certification (PALS a plus depending on patient population)
  • Experience in oral surgery, dental specialty, ambulatory surgery, or recovery care
  • Familiarity with dental or surgical electronic health record systems

Responsibilities

  • Assist the oral surgeon during surgical procedures including extractions, implants, bone grafts, and other oral surgery procedures
  • Prepare and maintain surgical suites using sterile technique and infection control standards
  • Initiate, monitor, and discontinue IV lines and administer medications in accordance with scope of practice and state regulations
  • Monitor patients during IV sedation and anesthesia, including vital signs, oxygen saturation, and level of consciousness
  • Recognize and respond to medical emergencies in accordance with office protocols
  • Perform pre-operative patient assessments and review medical histories
  • Provide post-operative monitoring and recovery care
  • Deliver clear discharge instructions and post-surgical education to patients and caregivers
  • Ensure patient comfort, safety, and emotional support throughout the visit
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation in patient records
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, CDC, and infection control regulations
  • Assist with maintaining emergency equipment, medications, and sedation logs
  • Collaborate with surgeons, dental assistants, and administrative staff to ensure efficient patient flow
  • Participate in staff training, quality improvement, and continuing education
  • Support inventory management for surgical and emergency supplies
