The Surgical Oncology unit at University Hospital specializes in the care of bladder, prostate, kidney, and testicular cancer, as well as orthopedic oncology patients. Patients travel from all over the world to Krannert just for our world-renowned testicular cancer care. Clinical Nurses on this unit create an atmosphere of positivity while interacting with patients and team members. Krannert is a recently expanded unit looking to add high-quality nurses who are passionate about growing their nursing skillset. Nursing skills gained on this unit Peer-to-peer collaboration Patient and family education Patient assessment Critical thinking Unit highlights Krannert crafted and developed the Indiana Pouch - continent urinary reservoir, meaning no bag is necessary to store the urine outside the body Krannert is known for gender affirmation surgery, rarely performed in other hospitals

Requirements

  • Requires Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Requires current state of Indiana license as Registered Nurse.
  • Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Exceptions: Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other Advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
