About The Position

Southside Regional Medical Center, a 300-bed facility, serves as a community healthcare provider with nearly 400 physicians across more than 40 specialties. The Progressive Care (Step down) Registered Nurse (RN) position is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care by utilizing strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status, acting as the service line between Med-Surg and ICU units, determining patient problem priorities and needs, developing and performing patient care plans to enhance outcomes, and ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment.

Requirements

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • BLS Basic Life Support or ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support (must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care, ACLS required within 6 months of hire)
  • 1 year of RN experience

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing
  • BLS Basic Life Support or ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support (preferred at hire)
  • 6 months RN experience in an acute care hospital setting

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team
  • Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessment, analyze assessment data, create a plan of care, implement treatment, and evaluate treatment effectiveness
  • Serve as point of contact for patients' care coordination throughout hospital departments
  • Act as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement in the department
  • Administer medications in a safe manner consistent with the State of Practice and the organization’s policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned
