About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) for the Freedom House Program provides comprehensive nursing services to individuals receiving residential substance use disorder treatment. The RN supports medical, behavioral health, and recovery-oriented services through medication administration, health monitoring, coordination with medical providers, and regulatory compliance. This position plays a critical role in promoting resident safety, wellness, and recovery while ensuring compliance with CARF accreditation standards, Kentucky Medicaid requirements, and AODE regulations. This position will also have on-call responsibilities

Requirements

  • Current, unrestricted RN license in Kentucky
  • Associate’s degree in nursing required; BSN preferred
  • Minimum one year nursing experience; SUD or behavioral health preferred
  • Knowledge of medication administration and documentation
  • CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain
  • Must be comfortable working closely with women and families in a residential setting

Nice To Haves

  • Preference given to candidates who have experience working both in residential settings, and with clients who are co-occurring

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care and medical oversight to residents
  • Administer medications per physician orders
  • Conduct health assessments and ongoing monitoring
  • Coordinate care with medical providers
  • Maintain accurate, audit-ready medical documentation
  • Participate in CARF, Medicaid, and AODE audits and licensure reviews
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards
  • Support corrective action plans
  • Promote trauma-informed, recovery-oriented care
  • Effectively works to maintain Behavioral Health Services Organization KARS standards along with AODE and Medicaid standards and takes prompt, effective action to correct any deficiencies in coordination with Program Manager Clinical Services and Clinical Staff.
  • Attends all required meetings on a scheduled basis and effectively uses these to resolve problems, review nursing/clinical issues and to enhance the competencies of clinical staff.
  • Coordinate with the agency’s APRN to complete physicals for all clients within 48 hours of admission.
  • Collaborate and communicate regularly with the program’s Medical Director and Psychiatrist.
  • Coordinate services between health care professionals, such as Primary Care Physician, medical specialist, i.e. (cardiologist, orthopedists, psychiatrist, etc.).
  • Manage the documentation of all medical services into Electronic Health Records.
  • Any other responsibilities as assigned to meet the mission of the agency.
  • Performance quality improvement (PQI) duties as assigned by supervision & PQI committee
