About The Position

You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care to promote patient health and recovery. You will collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care that addresses both physical and emotional needs of patients. This role requires a commitment to patient advocacy, education, and safety, ensuring that patients are well-informed and supported throughout their healthcare journey. You will contribute to improved patient outcomes and the overall effectiveness of the Healing Shepherd Clinic.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Degree
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • 5 years’ minimum experience
  • experience in adult care
  • experience working with unhoused, incarcerated, and those with mental illness
  • managerial/supervisory experience
  • Current and valid licensure in the State of Texas as an RN without any history of disciplinary action by the nursing board
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (ERH) systems and healthcare informatics
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with patients and co-workers.
  • Ability to act as a member of an interdisciplinary team in collaboration with other health care and non-health care workers.
  • Knowledge of local resources for health and medical care.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to interact with people with kindness, courtesy, and respect.
  • Knowledge of computers and software applications.
  • Skill in organizing and prioritizing workloads to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to adhere to safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to use good judgment and to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Ability to work as a team player.
  • Ability to demonstrate tact, resourcefulness, patience, and dedication.

  • Ability to work a 40-hour week.
  • Ability to sit for long periods, up to 8 hours.
  • Ability to use both hands in fine and gross manipulation of small tools (copier, computer, telephone).
  • Ability to push and pull up to 15 lbs. (File cabinet drawers, computer paper boxes).
  • Ability to see well enough to read handwritten and typewritten material.
  • Ability to reach, turn, and twist above and below the waist daily to retrieve files or supplies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and performing wound care.
  • Educate patients on health conditions, treatment plans, and post-discharge care to promote self-management and wellness.
  • Advocate for patients’ rights and needs, ensuring ethical and compassionate care is delivered at all times.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Document patient information accurately and maintain detailed medical records in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Knowledge of current applicable laws and regulations relating to nursing duties and qualifications.
