Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Possess current hospital experience (within 5 years) or be a new nursing graduate (within 2 years).
  • State of Illinois RN license.
  • CPR certification within 3 months of hire.
  • ACLS within one year of hire.
  • PALS within one year of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer at least 1 year of experience in hospital clinical nursing.
  • Possess a service orientation.

Responsibilities

  • Providing timely and appropriate assessments of patient condition.
  • The plan of care is formulated timely and addresses all of the patient’s problems and interventions are appropriate for the patient's condition.
  • Recognizes emergencies promptly and responds in an appropriate manner.
  • Takes responsibility for crash cart readiness, department readiness and is proficient in emergency procedures.
  • Administers medications & IV’s timely and accurately.
  • Performs treatments & procedures skillfully and on time as appropriate to the unit.
  • Educates patients & families, delivers the information on an appropriate level to the individual. Information is complete & documented.
  • Applies knowledge of National Patient Safety Goals.
  • Assures that hourly rounding and assessing is completed.
  • Demonstrates an awareness of fall prevention techniques: identifies patients at risk, communicates risks to other caregivers, reports all falls.
  • Engages in infection control practices and demonstrates knowledge of isolation procedures.
  • Documentation is timely and accurately reflects patient condition and progress.
  • Practices within ethical, regulatory and legal guidelines.
  • Familiarity with the electronic documentation system and using it effectively and efficiently.
