About The Position

With more than 30 specialties from Cardiology and Neurosurgery to Orthopedics and Vascular care, Methodist Medical Center was one of the first hospitals in East Tennessee to offer cutting-edge treatments and technologies that benefit people with life-threatening aneurysms, severely damaged knee, hip and shoulder joints, sudden heart failure, and non-healing wounds. Culture of Unit: Our team prides itself on its close teamwork and safe, evidence-based practices that provide the best care for our patients possible. Our culture promotes patient and staff safety and encourages everyone to speak up, ask questions, and learn from one another. Work Environment: The Heart/Lung/Vascular medical/surgical environment provides care of adult patients experiencing primarily pulmonary healthcare concerns. Frequently observed ailments include COPD exacerbation, respiratory viruses, asthma, bronchitis, etc. The IMC is a brand new 21-bed critical care step down unit that provides enhanced nursing services for patients that are too sick to be safely provided care on a medical/surgical unit but may not be in need of the monitoring available in the ICU. Our patients in the IMC are mixed acuity, which means you may encounter cardiovascular, neurological, respiratory, urological, gastrointestinal, or endocrine step down patients. How does scheduling work? Scheduling is observed in a four-week period. The nurse manager inputs the schedule and pays close attention to staff requests including desired schedule patterns and vacation times.
