About The Position

PURPOSE STATEMENT A staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional RN who directs and/or performs nursing care to patients assigned to his/her team within the scope of his/her license. The staff RN reports to the charge nurse on the unit to which he/she is assigned. This RN must effectively perform, delegate, and coordinate nursing care. The RN must be a patient advocate. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Demonstrate appropriate assessment skills. Ability to attain and implement orders and treatments in a timely manner. Implement patient care according to planned interventions to attain the patient’s optimal level of function according to current guidelines. Document thoroughly and according to policy. Routinely attend departmental meetings and hospital forums. Routinely participate in Quality Improvement projects and encourage department to continuously improve. Utilize time management skills to facilitate the schedule. Follow hospital policies and procedures. Assist co-workers as needed/requested. Appropriate medication administration via electronic bedside medication verification if applicable. Completion of mandatory department and hospital education. Promote professionalism by maintaining licensure and optional specialty certification. Maintain regular and predictable attendance. Expected to serve as sitters as needed, following the successful completion of designated sitter education and training provided. Perform other essential duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of accredited school of professional nursing.
  • Currently licensed to practice as a professional Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Missouri.
  • This individual should be knowledgeable regarding growth and development and assessing the physical and psychological needs of patients in all stages of life.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS required.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS or obtained within orientation.
  • Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work within the established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the hospital/clinic.

Nice To Haves

  • Endoscopy nursing experience preferred.
