Ball Memorial’s adult oncology progressive care unit is a 25-bed unit specializes in the care of hospice/end of life care, cancer patients, patients with COPD, and those with weakness due to acute disease. This unit is one of our hospitals TBAAM (Team Based Acuity Adaptable Model) units. This model consists of an interdisciplinary team that rounds daily with the clinical nurse to provide better continuity of care for our patients. Nursing skills gained on this unit: Progressive Level of care ACLS Chemo competency Hospice care Unit Successes/Designations/National Recognition: Unit 1 year celebration in Feb IU Health Muncie inpatient chemo unit Chemo competent RNs day and night shift Opportunity to be involved in Share governance on the unit and within the system with UBC and PNC Unit Culture: High value in team collaboration Support Staff – Dayshift bath tech Support Staff – Beyond the bedside RN on nights shift PRN Support Staff – Clinical Advisor coming in 2024 Hospice Office on unit Unit staff comprised of traditional IU Health employees, long term domestic travelers, and international nurses.
