About The Position

The Temporary Registered Nurse (RN) provides quality patient care through the application of the nursing process within a Relationship-Based Care framework. This role fosters strong patient and family relationships, collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, and demonstrates self-care and compassion to enhance patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Active RN license in the state of Indiana.
  • Proficient in nursing care procedures, interdisciplinary planning, and patient education.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Leadership and adaptability in a dynamic healthcare environment.
  • Competency in age-appropriate care and cultural sensitivity.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Must be able to respond to on-call duties within 30 minutes.
  • Ability to walk/stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks (e.g., lifting patients with assistance for weights over 35 lbs).

Responsibilities

  • Balance workload and schedule breaks to promote self-care.
  • Utilize vacation time appropriately for renewal and refreshment.
  • Manage stress effectively while maintaining focus on patient care.
  • Accept accountability for addressing issues and conflicts, escalating to the director as needed.
  • Serve as a role model and preceptor for new team members.
  • Collaborate with the health team for safe, effective care, including participating in interdisciplinary rounds.
  • Communicate patient conditions clearly using standardized nursing handoff tools.
  • Engage in team activities such as shift briefs, debriefs, and huddles to enhance communication and teamwork.
  • Plan and implement patient-centered care based on nursing diagnoses and evidence-based practices.
  • Respect patient dignity, rights, and privacy.
  • Maintain accountability for all delegated tasks and uphold nursing standards.
  • Conduct systematic patient assessments and formulate care plans.
  • Implement health promotion strategies and engage patients and families in care.
  • Respond promptly to patient needs and ensure inclusive care for all.
  • Pursue continuing education and professional development opportunities.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and committees.
  • Seek guidance or supervision as necessary to enhance nursing practice.
  • Evaluate patient progress toward goals and revise care plans as needed.
  • Participate in purposeful rounding to anticipate patient needs.
  • Document care thoroughly, adhering to core measures and organizational standards.
  • Attend department meetings and complete mandatory education on time.
  • Maintain licensure and required certifications, including BCLS (CPR).
  • Comply with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols.
