Strong collaboration and teamwork. 30-hours a week (10-hour shifts). 8am-6:30pm or 10am-8:30pm, set schedule Monday through Friday with two weekend shifts per month required. The oncology practices within the Division of Hematology and Oncology refer adult cancer patients to the Infusion Unit for treatment with, and management of, toxicities from chemotherapy and biotherapy. Patients are followed throughout the entire trajectory of their illness: diagnosis and treatment, rehabilitation, long-term follow-up, and when necessary, palliative care. The Oncology Infusion Unit has a strong commitment to primary nursing. RN's are responsible for patient education, medication administration, symptom management, and documentation of toxicities for those patients participating in clinical trials as well as those patients receiving standard regimens. RNs support the organizational mission and the Cancer Center investment in clinical research. In tandem with the Cancer Center Protocol Office and the Research Manager, RNs participate in the administration of all phases of clinical trials in which their primary patients may be enrolled. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years oncology RN experience or a minimum of 5 years of RN experience in the ICU, ER or inpatient medical. Led by a Nursing Director, assisted by two Clinical Nurse Specialists, this team establishes standards of care, initiating quality improvement projects, and setting and supporting the overall tone for patient care. Requirements

  • Associate's Degree Nursing required or Bachelor's Degree Nursing preferred
  • Registered Nurse [RN - State License] - Generic - HR Only required
  • Clinical nursing experience 0-1 year required
  • Familiarity with the principles and skills needed for practical nursing to provide patient care and treatment.
  • Knowledgeable of the care required by respective age groups for which care is being provided.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and secure sensitive information.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills.
  • Ability to accurately screen and triage acute patients.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate, detailed reports, and records.
  • Administer medications to patients and monitor patients for reactions or side effects.

  • Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
