Requirements

• Current and valid state RN License.
• Current BLS certificate required.
• Current ACLS certificate required.
• Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC required.
• Basic Arrythmia Interpretation required.
• Minimum of one year experience as a staff nurse RN in an acute care hospital setting; E.R. setting required.
• In Paramedic Base Station ED: MICN required.
• EDAP certified facilities: Completion of emergency pediatric course 1 and 2 required upon hire.
• Non-OB facilities: NRP certificate required upon hire and maintain current.
• Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNNC) required.

Responsibilities

• The Staff RN is directly accountable for the care given to patients in the Emergency Department.
• He / She will communicate with the physician about the changes in the patients’ clinical condition including results of the diagnostic studies and symptomatology.
• The staff RN recognizes life threatening situation/ changes in conditions and/or responses to treatment quickly and accurately responds.
• The Staff RN maintains accurate and relevant record of all patient care.
• The Staff RN is knowledgeable about EMTALA regulations and reporting of child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies.
• The Staff RN actively participating in cost containment and assisting in accurate charging for patient services.
