About The Position

Pre-Operative Registered Nurse (RN) The Pre-Operative Registered Nurse is responsible for completing comprehensive physical and psychological assessments and initiating individualized pre-operative care plans to ensure safe, high-quality patient care. Schedule Full-Time | Monday-Friday | Varied Hours Monday-Thursday: As early as 6:30 AM and as late as 7:00 PM Friday: As early as 6:30 AM and as late as 3:00 PM Education, Training, and Experience Current RN license in the state of practice Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred Current CPR certification required; ACLS encouraged but not required Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Pre-Operative Nurse Completion of a critical care course, including basic arrhythmia interpretation Reporting Relationship Reports to the Nurse Manager and/or ASC Admin Physical Demands Requires high levels of visual and auditory acuity for patient assessment, timely response, frequent computer use, and occasional use of office equipment Ability to move quickly in response to physician and patient needs Frequent movement throughout the center; ability to sit for extended periods and perform administrative tasks Ability to perform physical activities such as lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, handling equipment, and reaching overhead or below waist level Ability to exert force: Constantly up to 5 lbs Frequently up to 10 lbs Occasionally up to 30 lbs Patient care activities may require lifting, pushing, or pulling: Up to 30 lbs consistently Up to 40 lbs occasionally Up to 100 lbs rarely Ability to position and transport patients, prepare procedure rooms, and set up patient care equipment Key Responsibilities Patient Care & Assessment Perform comprehensive physical and psychological assessments prior to surgery Initiate and implement pre-operative care plans Obtain and document patient history, vital signs, and assessments Initiate IV therapy using aseptic technique Administer prescribed pre-operative medications and monitor patient response Assess and address patient anxiety, providing comfort and emotional support Maintain patient privacy, safety, and comfort at all times Pre-Operative Coordination Review daily surgery schedules and obtain physician orders as needed Verify completeness and accuracy of physician orders and surgical consents Confirm patient identification and surgical site verification Ensure patient understanding of procedures and consent documentation Communicate test abnormalities and pertinent information to surgeons, anesthesiologists, OR staff, and peri-operative team Patient & Family Education Provide clear pre-operative instructions to patients and families, including: Arrival time NPO status Clothing requirements Medication instructions for day of surgery Estimated length of stay Post-operative home care instructions Requirement for a responsible adult to drive the patient home Overview of the pre-operative experience Communication & Collaboration Greet and update family members regarding patient progress Maintain effective communication with interdisciplinary team members Utilize strong interpersonal skills to promote teamwork and quality care Administrative & Professional Responsibilities Maintain adequate supplies for smooth department operations Utilize proper body mechanics to prevent injury to patients and staff Accurately document nursing care in the medical record Adhere to all facility policies and procedures Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor Report to work as scheduled and notify management promptly if unable to report Maintain confidentiality of patient information Perform additional duties as assigned by management Continuing Education & Professional Development Demonstrates commitment to ongoing learning and professional growth Participates in in-service programs and training opportunities Learns new procedures, equipment, and products as introduced Maintains current CPR certification Completes required continuing education credits Compensation & Benefits Competitive wages Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, life, and short- and long-term disability insurance Generous paid time off (PTO) Seven (7) paid company holidays 401(k) retirement plan with company match Uniform reimbursement Supportive, people-focused culture emphasizing Passion, Purpose, and Progress About Midwest Vision Partners Midwest Vision Partners (MVP) was founded in 2019 in partnership with Alpine Investors to build a premier eye care platform centered on physician leadership and a PeopleFirst™ philosophy. Requirements

  • Current RN license in the state of practice
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Current CPR certification required
