About The Position

NiteLines USA, established in 1994, is a dynamic and growing organization that provides contract support services to government institutions and medical treatment facilities. They are seeking professionals to join their team, emphasizing integrity, respect, accountability, and collaboration. This Registered Nurse position is located at the Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee, FL, a State of Florida Psychiatric Hospital operating 24/7. The hospital has 223 buildings on campus with a capacity of 1,334 patients, including individuals as young as 13 years old. The Administration Building is on the National Register of Historic Places. The hospital treats two categories of patients: those civilly committed under Statute 394 (adult and elderly individuals, and forensic residents 'stepped down' to civil units, also known as Forensic Transition units) and those forensically committed under Statute 916. Forensic wards have security guards and metal detectors, primarily housing ambulatory young adults aged 20-25, with a small geriatric dorm also present. Nurses will be required to drive state vehicles to transport patients to outside doctor appointments and hospitals, and may also serve as a 'sitter' during outside hospital stays.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age at time of hire
  • Must hold unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse
  • One year of acute care or two years of clinical nursing experience
  • Must be CPR certified, or able to complete training
  • Must be able to complete full orientation at time of hire
  • Must be able to fulfill physical requirements of position including ability to lift and carry 20 lbs., remain alert while on duty, and work 16-hour shifts on occasion

Responsibilities

  • Assess resident complaints and determine action, notifying supervisor when necessary
  • Admit and transfer residents to and from other units or outside sources
  • Administer oral and/or injectable medication and controlled medications in accordance with facility policy, and within their scope of practice as defined by Florida law
  • Observe for side effects or adverse effects to medication and report to assigned supervisor, or further assessment and treatment
  • Prepare paperwork as required for consults within facility and outside appointments
  • Coordinate residents’ appointments with unit staff to ensure medications are appropriately timed as need for resident movement to and from the unit
  • Provide emergency medical/psychiatric treatment within scope of practice as defined by facility and Florida law and notifying supervisor for further assistance
  • Complete incident reports factually and objectively, within the appropriate time frame as defined by the facility
  • Drive state vehicles transporting patients to outside facility doctor appointments and hospitals
  • Be a "sitter" with the patient during an outside hospital stay

Benefits

  • $45.00 per hour
  • $2,000.00 sign on bonus (1 year commitment)
