About The Position

Sierra Medical Center, part of Northern Nevada Health System, is a 170-bed acute care hospital offering a wide range of services including 24/7 ER care, cardiology, oncology, labor and delivery, level II NICU, surgical and orthopedic services. This full-time Registered Nurse position in the Labor & Delivery unit is 36 hours per week with a night shift schedule and offers full benefits. The dynamic individual will provide care to pregnant patients during labor, obstetrical emergencies, and other obstetric conditions, focusing on the intrapartum period (labor and birth). Responsibilities include providing support, medical care, constant monitoring of the pregnant patient and fetus, assisting and educating patients on labor and delivery conditions, and offering critical nursing care and comprehensive pregnancy and postpartum education. The role involves providing safe, competent nursing care in accordance with facility policies, standards, and philosophy, offering professional leadership and support to the healthcare team, and basing all nursing care on the concepts of Patient Centered Care while demonstrating Service Excellence standards. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program.
  • Current Nevada nursing license.
  • Current BLS certificate.
  • NRP, STABLE within 6 mo. of hire
  • ACLS (or obtained within six months of employment).
  • Must successfully pass any pre-employment assessment(s) required by the facility.
  • Fetal Monitoring within 6 months of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer one year full time or three years part time experience in acute care setting.

Responsibilities

  • Involves the patient and family psychosocial, spiritual, emotional, population specific, and diversity needs in care assessment
  • Constructs and implements the plan of care using nursing knowledge and skill. Integrates direct and indirect patient care activities related to the diagnosis and co-morbidities.
  • Coordinates the implementation of the interdisciplinary plan of care for assigned patients. Develops goals, treatment plans, and discharge plans that meet individual patient/family needs.
  • Collaborates with the patient's designated care partner to meet the educational, physical, psychological, and spiritual needs of the patient.
