About The Position

In an environment of continuous quality improvement, the Registered Nurse is responsible for rendering professional nursing care and directs and guides patient teaching and activities of ancillary personnel. Exhibits the MHS Standards of Excellence and exercises strict confidentiality at all times.

Requirements

  • Current licensure in the State of Ohio as a Registered Nurse required.
  • BLS certification required – will obtain during hospital orientation.
  • ACLS and PALS within one year of employment required.
  • Maintains compliance in RQI required.
  • Verbal, clerical, numerical, and manual dexterity, color vision and near visual acuity.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to implement a nursing plan of care, nursing interventions, and procedures as necessary for the care of the patient through knowledge of clinic policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of commonly prescribed medications, including administration technique, action, dosage, and side effects.
  • Identifies patient care problems and communicates them to the provider by assessing patients.
  • Documents patient intake including vital statistics, verification of allergies, past history, updated medication list, and review of system findings as stated by patient or delegate.
  • Performs assigned nursing procedures and treatments as ordered and within scope of practice with appropriate, timely documentation.
  • Coordinates timely, adequate teaching to patient/family/significant other in preparation for discharge and documents appropriately.
  • Effectively manages patient care and delegates appropriately according to the needs of the patient and the skill of the caregiver.
  • Utilizes appropriate interpersonal communication which facilitates productive relationships with other team members.
  • Facilitates a positive and caring relationship with others by utilizing trust and mutual respect.
  • Promotes a positive patient experience.
  • Seeks help from appropriate resources as needed.
  • Maintains current knowledge of and practices within the scope of hospital policies.
  • Uses proper channels of authority in communicating information.
  • Assumes responsibility for own behavior.
  • Maintains certifications per department requirements (BLS, ACLS, PALS).
  • Ensures all shift checks are completed daily by the team.
  • Manages throughput and makes changes to assignments as needed.
  • Reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager any problems in regards to performance, safety, staffing, behavior, etc.
  • Collects specimens in accordance with hospital policy and appropriately fills out forms.
  • Utilizes A.I.D.E.T. with all patient interactions.
  • Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.
