About The Position

The RN will ensure safe and effective nursing care to patients throughout the post-operative process.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
• 2+ years of experience in post-operative care
• Active RN License as required by the state of FL.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Superior listening skills with the ability to comprehend instruction and also the needs of the patients.

Responsibilities

• Manage the patients’ post operative care and medications.
• Review charts for completeness, in accordance with documentation protocols prior to and after surgical procedures.
• Using computer applications- performing any data entry tasks to document patient demographics, records or note to file. Documenting patients' medical information, including medical history and review of symptoms within EHR of patients’ chart.
• Seeing post-operative patients, providing dressing changes, suture and drain removal when needed.
• Maintaining patient privacy and always adhering to HIPAA guidelines
• Under the physician's direction, informing patients of receipt or necessity of medical clearances and results
• Transmitting prescription or refill requests as directed by provider
• Monitoring and documenting patient symptoms for physicians' review during clinical exams
• Preparing patients for examination-prepping exam rooms for clinical, minor surgical or cosmetic procedures and assisting providers during exams with patient care
• Explaining post-operative care to patients
• Collecting, labeling and preparing laboratory specimens
• Maintaining proper cleaning of medical instruments and sterilization
• Properly disinfecting and restocking of medical supplies in patient exam rooms
• Providing compassionate patient support and care, attention and assistance during office visits. Being a patient Liaison. RNs are instrumental in helping patients feel at ease in the physician’s office.
