The RN Pre-Admission Testing is responsible for performing pre-admission labs, EKG’s, taking medical history in person or over the phone, giving Pre-op instructions and answering patient or family questions. The RN Pre-Admission Testing communicates with physicians' offices regarding lab results and needed orders, as well as preparing patient charts for upcoming surgery and inputting physician's orders. The RN Pre-Admissions rotates to Pre-Op/ADRR as needed and always integrates the mission and values of TIS in the provision of patient care. Job Details Provides safe and direct individual patient care utilizing the nursing process. Adheres to standards of care and practice. Complete a thorough pre admission collection of patient information. Confers collaboratively with patients and team members. Maintains composure in a stressful environment, and shares information appropriately. Performs the nursing process through assessment, planning implementation and evaluation. Provides assessment of physiologic, mental and psychosocial health status of the child, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient. Uses critical thinking skills and knowledge to pro-actively intervene to ensure optimal patient. Maintains a working knowledge and thorough understanding of all equipment and utilities and provides knowledgeable guidance and evaluation of the environment of care management including life safety (fire prevention), security, hazardous materials and waste management, emergency preparedness, infection control, and the safe use of medical equipment and utilities. Uses critical thinking skills and knowledge to pro-actively intervene to ensure optimal patient experience. Documents nursing care and supplies in a relevant and concise manner that demonstrates compliance with policy and awareness of medical/legal implications. Exhibits strong organizational skills and expertise in completing a comprehensive medical history. Initiates the Medication Reconciliation Record. Documentation is accurate and legible. Acts as physician-patient (family) liaison. Acts as patient advocate by providing appropriate teaching to patient and/or significant other. Build trusting relationships with customers. Preserves and protects the confidentiality, autonomy, dignity and rights of our patients and their families. Contributes to positive interpersonal and inter-departmental communication demonstrated by positive interactions with patients, families, peers, and physicians. Demonstrates adaptability and flexibility to changes in the schedule and/or work assignments necessary to meet the changing needs of the individual patient or unit.
