About The Position

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current New Hampshire RN license.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Strong clinical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Current license to practice professional nursing from the New Hampshire Board of Registration.
  • BLS certification with American Heart Association.
  • Demonstrates the necessary clinical skills and technical knowledge to provide care for patients according to Nursing Policy and Procedures.
  • Demonstrates the necessary clinical skills and knowledge to provide care for patients according to the clinic specific competencies.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Acute care medical-surgical experience.
  • Vaccinated against influenza (flu) as a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years of clinical experience in inpatient, outpatient, or long-term care settings.
  • BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver age-appropriate, culturally competent nursing care.
  • Collaborate with physicians and healthcare team members.
  • Educate patients and families on treatment plans and preventive care.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and uphold safety standards.
  • Support a positive and responsive care environment.
  • Provide safe patient care by demonstrating organizational skills that maintain and coordinate safe delivery of quality care for assigned patients/families.
  • Perform systematic patient and family assessment relevant to practice settings and record the related health data.
  • Analyze and interpret recorded data.
  • Make informed judgements as to the specific problems and elements of nursing care mandated by a particular situation.
  • Develop a culturally competent plan of care that identifies patient problems, expected outcomes, and addresses preventative measures.
  • Respect the values (religious/spiritual, ethnic, cultural) of the patient and family.
  • Deliver care that is specific to the age of the patient.
  • Utilize listening skills and clinical judgment in decision making to telephonically assess the severity of patient caller signs and symptoms.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of care and adapt plan based on patient/family response.
  • Provide necessary physical care to appropriate patient populations which include ADL’s, positioning, transporting, and treatments.
  • Utilize and transport equipment.
  • Monitor and recognize acute changes in the patient and intervene appropriately.
  • Administer medications including blood and blood products.
  • Establish professional relationship with nurses, physicians and other colleagues and patients and families.
  • Educate the patient and family about the patient’s illness and treatment including preventative measures appropriate to the patient.
  • Support Lahey Clinics commitment to community based activities both within the Lahey community and beyond.
  • Collaborate, cooperate and communicate with other healthcare providers to ensure quality and continuity of care.
  • Demonstrate professional behavior by adhering to unit policies and procedures, practice guidelines specific to the setting and the ANA Code of Ethics.
  • Demonstrate skills as a responsive team member.
  • Demonstrate role of nurse as teacher.
  • Demonstrate ability to fulfill role in regulatory compliance and readiness.
  • Achieve and maintain ACLS certification as required by departmental standards.
  • Serve as patient advocate, within the limits of the law.
  • Uphold standards of quality nursing care.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to life long learning.
  • Demonstrate evidenced based practice (EBP) in nursing.
  • Maintain strict adherence to the Lahey Clinic Confidentiality Policy.
  • Incorporate Lahey Clinic Guiding Principles, Mission Statement, and Goals into daily activities.
  • Comply with all Lahey Clinic Policies.
  • Comply with behavioral expectations of the department and Lahey Clinic.
  • Maintain courteous and effective interactions with colleagues and patients.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the job description, performance expectations, and competency assessment.
  • Demonstrate a commitment toward meeting and exceeding the needs of our customers and consistently adheres to Customer Service standards.
  • Participate in departmental and/or interdepartmental quality improvement activities.
  • Participate in and successfully complete Mandatory Education.
  • Perform all other duties as needed or directed to meet the needs of the department.
