About The Position

Clarkston Surgery Center is an established ambulatory surgery center (ASC) in operation since 2009. The staff of this ASC are highly-trained professionals, who are committed to creating and working in a positive environment. Clarkston Surgery Center provides the highest level of surgical services. The staff works to continuously improve quality and service by focusing on the processes that are important in meeting the needs of patients and their families and physicians on staff at the facility. Job Summary: Coordinates and manages the operating room environment, collaborating with surgeons, anesthesia, and the surgical team to promote optimal patient outcomes and safety.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Michigan.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of intraoperative nursing experience required; ambulatory surgery experience preferred.
  • Demonstrates strong clinical competency, leadership, and teaching abilities.
  • Physically and emotionally capable of performing the responsibilities of the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with da Vinci robotic procedures preferred.
  • Knowledge of SIS-Complete preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to Center policies and procedures and demonstrates fiscal responsibility.
  • Provides perioperative nursing care in accordance with accepted professional standards, policies, goals, and objectives.
  • Maintains current knowledge and competency in aseptic technique, scrub practices, and the cleaning, preparation, and setup of the operating room and equipment.
  • Manages the operating room environment to ensure patient safety, including oversight of equipment, supplies, instruments, sterile technique, and OR traffic patterns.
  • Assists anesthesia providers throughout surgical procedures.
  • Demonstrates understanding of the physiological and psychosocial needs of patients across all age groups.
  • Complies with OSHA and other regulatory standards related to bloodborne pathogens and exposure to body fluids.
  • Demonstrates proper body mechanics and infection-control practices at all times.
  • Functions calmly and effectively as a team leader, in collaboration with anesthesia, during routine operations and crisis situations.
  • Directs and oversees surgical counts (sponges, needles, and instruments) in collaboration with Scrub Personnel.
  • Communicates relevant day-to-day operational issues to the facilitator/lead as appropriate.
  • Participates in activities that support professional growth and development.
  • Complies with employee health, staffing, and personnel policies.
