About The Position

As a Registered Nurse in the School Nursing Program (SNP), you will be placed within a partner organization to provide direct patient care to students, staff and families. This role focuses on primary, proactive and preventive care, managing chronic conditions, and addressing urgent health needs for the school's students, staff, and families. You will work autonomously, collaborate with HealthBar’s broader healthcare team, and contribute to enhancing student well-being through proactive health services. Expected schedule is Monday-Friday from 9am-2pm following the school year.

Requirements

  • Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing program (bachelor's degree in nursing preferred).
  • Licensure: Active and unrestricted State of Michigan issued Registered Nurse License.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years providing care as a nurse in applicable areas, such as pediatrics, emergency or family medicine.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross within 90 days of employment.
  • Ability to communicate verbally
  • Fully functional vision is required (prescription lenses or contacts are acceptable)
  • Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, or walking
  • Ability to lift or carry up to 25 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to operate a computer and other standard office or clinical tools
  • Reliable transportation for occasional travel to partner locations

Nice To Haves

  • 1 to 2 years of school nursing experience preferred.
  • Additional Certifications: Preferred and highly encouraged from an accredited certification board, before or after employment in a specialty field such as:
  • CPR instructor
  • ACLS/PALS
  • Health Coaching
  • Mental Health First Aid
  • School Nursing Certification

Responsibilities

  • Operating within the EOS framework, contributing to weekly L10 meetings, quarterly conversations and attending Quarterly and Annual State of the Company meetings.
  • Understanding and adhering to the HealthBar Health Pyramid, incorporating the Health Pyramid into daily patient care practices and education.
  • Oversight of Medical Emergency Response Team (MERT) Training and drills
  • Collaborate with SNP partners, communicating frequently regarding patient and/or operational needs.
  • Provide onsite or virtual clinical support to patients, including acute injury/illness assessments, nurse navigation, education, and training in adherence to MI school nursing guidelines and recommendations.
  • Documentation and review of accident reports as needed.
  • Maintain licensure, certification, and continuing education requirements.
