About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) position oversees the medical, psychiatric, substance abuse and nursing care for individuals served in Assertive Community Treatment services.

Requirements

  • Valid and current state-specific RN license.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric medications and their indications, common side effects, reactions and interactions of medications prescribed.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Ability to conduct assessments and treatment plans.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Effective listening skills.
  • Excellent documentation skills.
  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse, Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working in a behavioral health setting.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality (HIPAA guidelines and regulations) and professionalism.
  • Must be able to pass a seven-year background check.
  • Must be able to pass substance abuse testing and/or tuberculous testing (if applicable).
  • Must be able to pass education verification check.
  • Must be able to pass three-year motor vehicle report and meet minimum eligibility requirements criteria of insurance carrier (if driving is required for this position).
  • RN + 4 years experience in related field OR Master's degree in related field and 1 year experience in behavioral health OR Bachelor's degree in related field and 2 years experience in behavioral health OR Bachelor's degree in unrelated field and 4 years experience in behavioral health

Nice To Haves

  • Trauma Informed Care experience preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates services with various public and private community health, mental health and social service agencies to ensure appropriate services for individuals.
  • Assists individuals with preparation and recording of the service planning process.
  • Conducts assessments and treatment plans.
  • Responds to crisis calls for assessment and pertinent intervention as needed.
  • Completes clinical documentation as required.
  • manages the medication system in conjunction with the psychiatrist, administers and documents medication treatment.
  • manages a secure medication room to support the dispensing of medications, which includes both oral and intramuscular psychotropic medications for individuals in need of such support.
  • screens and monitors the individuals for medical problems and side effects.
  • engages in health promotion, prevention and education activities.
  • if the individual is in agreement, develop strategies to maximize taking medications as prescribed (example reviewing home environment to find cues to remind individual to take medications; work with individual and psychiatric care provider to scale back the number of times medications are taking each day).
  • communicating and coordinating services with other medical providers; and
  • educating the team in monitoring psychiatric symptoms and medication side-effects.
  • Understands and adheres to RI International compliance standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policies.
  • Keeps abreast of all federal and state regulations and laws and all RI International policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
  • Performs other related duties assigned.
  • ACT team members shall provide “first responder” crisis response 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year to beneficiaries experiencing a crisis.
