Position: Registered Nurse Location: Mother/Baby Schedule: 24 Hours (Nights / Rotating Weekends) ABOUT THE MATERNAL CHILD HEALTH/MOTHER BABY NURSING DEPARTMENT AT BOSTON MEDICAL CENTER: Registered Nurses for the Post-Partum Unit and Newborn Nursery provide couplet care to patients that have recently delivered in our Labor & Delivery unit. As a Magnet recognized organization, these nurses provide care to the whole family, ensuring the first few days of care have set the family up for success. POSITION SUMMARY: As an RN in the Maternal Child Health/Mother Baby Department , you will play an integral role in delivering exceptional care. Using our patient-centered care model you will be uplifted by a supportive nursing organization, and will be able to deliver the excellent care to your patients that they deserve.

Requirements

• Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts or have the ability to obtain a MA RN license
• 6 months of Mother Baby RN experience required
• Certification in basic life support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiac Life support (ACLS) certification required in certain units
• Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred), Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years
• Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty, certification required for certain practice areas
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Physical ability to meet job responsibilities
• Basic computer proficiency
• Fluency in another language a plus

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care in the Maternal Child Health/Mother Baby Department, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients
• Communicate with various health care team members, patients, and their families
• Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues
• Update and manage patient records
• Enter and interpret computerized data/information
• Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC’s nursing organization
• Assist the leadership team as needed in quality improvement projects
