Requirements

  • Registered Nurse Licensure in the State of Utah
  • Ability to pass clinical competencies
  • Extensive knowledge regarding medical diseases, conditions, and treatment methodologies
  • Ability to learn and teach other people about medical conditions and diseases
  • CPR certification
  • Fluently read, write and speak the English language
  • Ability to reason and creatively problem solve
  • Ability to interact with co-workers, managers, administration, and medical staff in a professional and courteous manner.

Responsibilities

  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques
  • Prepares equipment and aids Physician during treatment and examination of patient
  • Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patient
  • Observes patient, records significant conditions and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents
  • Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess condition of patient
  • Responds to life saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol
  • Documents nursing history and physical assessment for assigned patients
  • Initiates a patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician including patient and family instruction
  • Rotates among various departments within Blue Mountain Hospital
  • Prepares rooms, sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures
  • Assists in procedure by handing items to medical practitioner
  • Participates in department or unit quality improvement activities
  • Train employees; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; assist in addressing complaints and suggestion resolution to problems
  • Interviews patient to determine medical problems/conditions and documents in chart for physician
  • Obtains and records vital signs and weight
  • Assists physician with patient examination as needed
  • Reviews physician orders, lab requests
  • Documents services performed for billing purposes
  • Dresses wounds, gives enemas, douches, alcohol rubs, and massages
  • Applies compresses, ice bags, and hot water bottles
  • Observes patients and reports adverse reactions to medication or treatment medical personnel in charge
  • Administers specified medication, orally or by subcutaneous or intramuscular injection, and notes time and amount in patient chart
  • Assembles and uses with proper training, equipment such as catheters, oxygen suppliers, etc.
  • Collects samples, such as urine, blood, and sputum, from patients
  • Sterilizes equipment and supplies
  • Maintains supplies, including stocking and ordering new supplies and disposing of expired or damaged supplies. Inventory, making sure all medication/injectables and products are up to date and place order with Director of Nursing, Chief Nursing Officer, or Pharmacist
  • Comply with the Blue Mountain Hospital Policies and Procedures regarding Confidentiality, with the Privacy Act, with Health Insurance Portability Act
  • Follow all personnel policies and procedures of Blue Mountain Hospital and support administrative team in providing quality healthcare in a financially viable process
  • Maintain patient and business confidentiality at all times
  • Maintain Basic Life Support certification at all times
  • Any other tasks, projects, or duties that are requested by the Employee’s supervisor or other Blue Mountain Hospital management or administration that is at all reasonably related to Blue Mountain Hospital and/or Employee’s employment with Blue Mountain Hospital.
