About The Position

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join a Behavioral Health Services team within a community-based hospital setting. This role is ideal for an RN who is passionate about supporting individuals experiencing mental health and/or substance use challenges in a close-knit, patient-centered environment. The RN will play a key role in delivering high-quality care, supporting crisis stabilization, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to promote patient safety, recovery, and overall well-being.

Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (New Hampshire or compact state)
  • Minimum 1+ years of nursing experience (behavioral health or psychiatric experience preferred)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Strong clinical assessment skills and ability to respond effectively in crisis situations
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in inpatient behavioral health, psychiatric units, or emergency department settings
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or similar de-escalation training
  • Familiarity with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, or similar)
  • BSN preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to patients with behavioral health and/or substance use disorders
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments, including mental status exams and risk evaluations
  • Administer medications and monitor therapeutic responses, including psychotropic medications
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with providers and care teams
  • Monitor patient behavior and provide timely interventions, including de-escalation techniques
  • Maintain a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment for patients and staff
  • Accurately document patient care and progress in EMR systems
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, therapists, case managers, and other clinical staff
  • Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medications, and coping strategies
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, state regulations, and patient safety standards
