About The Position

The Registered Nurse will be clinically competent while delivering care to patients utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation and evaluation. RNs will effectively interact with patients, significant others and other health team members while maintaining all standards of professional nursing.

Requirements

  • Ability to work calmly and efficiently under emergency situations and with others in rendering care.

  • Strong understanding and sensitivity to Alaska Native culture and lifestyle, with demonstrated experience working effectively with Alaska Native population.
  • Exceptional time management skills and discipline.

  • Effective oral and written communications skills with sensitivity to lifestyles of targeted participants.
  • Ability to keep accurate records and produce timely and accurate written reports.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality as required for HIPAA, other regulations and organization matters.
  • Ability to learn and apply program/agency operating policies and procedures.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks concurrently and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships, including outside contacts.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with teams.
  • A.D.N. or B.S.N. from accredited College of Nursing, accompanied by current State of Alaska Nursing license and BLS certification, and 0-1 years of nursing experience.
  • Ability to obtain ACLS and PALS (or Pediatric training equivalent) certification within 6 months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • B.S.N. from accredited College of Nursing, accompanied by current State of Alaska Nursing license and BLS certification, and Two (2) years of nursing experience with an emphasis on Ambulatory care, Medical, Surgical, or Emergency care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced professional nursing care to patients in varying states of health and illness through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient's health needs.
  • Provide direct care to patients and families, as well as teaching and preparing for continuing care.
  • Coordinate and supervise patient care provided by support medical personnel.
  • Maintain confidentiality in regards to all client, staff, and program matters.
  • Practice patient teaching/training for staff, patients, and families.
  • Perform routine nursing care to assigned patients while utilizing age-specific and universal precaution practices at all times.
  • Perform all nursing duties in accordance with the State of Alaska Board of Nursing, ANA, and AAACN standards of practice while adhering to all facility policies and procedures.
  • Apply skill and knowledge grained at assigned training sessions.
  • Participate and support community activities sponsored and/or supported by CRNA.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
