This position is a .9 FTE (72 hours per 2 week pay period). This position works 12 hour shifts, every third weekend rotation, on the overnight shift. Fairview is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Cardiac/Respiratory Intermediate Care Unit at our M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center - East Bank location in Minneapolis, MN. As a Registered Nurse on the Cardiac/Respiratory Intermediate Care Unit, you will provide care to patients 18 years and older with moderate to potentially severe physiologic instability requiring frequent nursing assessment and intervention every 1 to 2 hours. This is a fast-paced environment where you will be trained to provide professional, culturally competent nursing care for high acuity patients across a wide range of diagnoses and specialties. About our Cardiac/Respiratory IMC Department at UMMC East Bank: The Cardiac/Respiratory IMC is a 22 bed unit. The nurse patient ratio is a mix of 1:2 and 1:3 on all shifts. Patients require cardiac monitoring and some form of respiratory support, up to and including mechanical ventilation. Common patient populations include, but are not limited to, post-op transplant, acute and chronic respiratory failure, sepsis, end-stage organ failure, cardiac complications (titratable cardiac drips, ventricular assist device), cardiovascular and thoracic surgery. Hands-On Experience: The program includes hands-on clinical experiences to help nurses apply their knowledge in real healthcare scenarios; we are piloting virtual reality as a formative learning experience! The Registered Nurse position is responsible for providing professional nursing care for patients following established standards and practices on a busy, fast-paced Progressive ICU. The RN will assist physicians and staff in coordinating patient care. The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.
