About The Position

Meritus Health is now hiring a Registered Nurse for our Wound Center. This position plays a pivotal role in both outpatient and inpatient wound management, ensuring a seamless continuum of care. The RN in this role will provide comprehensive assessment, advanced wound treatment, patient and family education, and care coordination-working closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other care team members to support optimal healing.

Requirements

  • ASN required. BSN Preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a hospital setting required.
  • Specialty certification recognized by the Magnet Recognition Program preferred.
  • Current license to practice as Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland, or if resident of a state that participates in Nurse Multi-State Compact agreement, holds Registered Nurse License from that state that is designated as "Compact" or "Multi-State Privilege" using primary source verification and provides additional documentation as required by the Maryland Board of Nursing. RN License from a compact state with a designation of "Single State" does not meet the requirement and nurse must obtain a Maryland license. Specialty certification preferred.
  • Ability to apply the standards of professional nursing practice with compassion and empathy.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Must possess a high level of organization and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform wound assessments, treatments, and evaluations for patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Implement and monitor evidence-based wound care protocols, including negative pressure therapy, compression therapy, and use of bio-engineered tissue products.
  • Coordinate care between inpatient units and the outpatient clinic, ensuring continuity and follow-up for complex wound cases.
  • Provide patient and family education on wound prevention, nutrition, and home care techniques.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team-physicians, dietitians, physical therapists, and case managers-to create individualized care plans.
  • Document wound care assessments and progress using the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to nursing staff regarding wound care practices.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing professional development related to wound care management
