About The Position

The Clinical Nursing Supervisor (Registered Nurse) provides clinical leadership, administrative support, and operational oversight for the nursing unit. Collaborates with the Unit Director/Manager to ensure safe, high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, and efficient departmental operations. Assumes administrative responsibility in the absence of leadership and supports performance improvement, staff supervision, and patient care coordination. Central Maine Healthcare is an integrated healthcare delivery system serving 400,000 people living in central, western and Midcoastal Maine. CMH's hospital facilities include Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Bridgton Hospital and Rumford Hospital. Requirements

  • Current and valid state Registered Nurse license.
  • Current Basic Life Support certificate (BLS) upon hire and maintain current.
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) upon hire and maintain current.
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience, with 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certificate preferred for Intensive Care.
  • Non-OB Facilities – NRP Required 90 days after hire and maintained.
  • Professional Certification within 2 years of hire, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, direct, and evaluate nursing staff during shifts.
  • Support unit operations, staffing, workflow, and resource management.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and hospital regulations.
  • Lead performance improvement initiatives and staff training/orientation.
  • Communicate with physicians, staff, and administration.
  • Assess patient care needs and guide staff in care plan implementation.
  • Provide direct patient care as needed within RN scope of practice.
