Position: Registered Nurse Location: This position will cover the Adult Day Programs for Glendora, Bellflower, Norwalk, Carson, and Cerritos. Hours: Part-time - Monday-Friday - 28 hours per week between the hours of 8:00 am to 4:00 pm (scheduled to be determined). Additional Information: Typically will cover one site per day but requires flexibility as needed. We pay for mileage. The position requires reliable transportation and a clean DMV record. Hourly Pay Rate: starting rate $41.83 - $52.40 D.O.E. Excellent Monday through Friday work schedule. Requirements

  • Valid Licensed Registered Nurse Certification/Degree.
  • At least one year of experience as a Registered Nurse working with adults with disabilities in a residential home.
  • Valid CPR and First Aid Certification.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, through oral and written skills, with all levels of staff and the general public.
  • Ability to properly interpret and implement policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds repetitively, to stand, stoop, kneel for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to provide assistance with personal care to participants, including ability to transfer an individual who has no weight bearing skills.
  • Ability to obtain fingerprint/abuse index clearance from Community Care Licensing.
  • Ability to pass post-offer medical examination.
  • Ability to travel locally.
  • Reliable transportation, proof of California Driver's License, clean driving record, proper auto insurance, and vehicle registration.
  • Appropriate vehicle for transportation of program participants if program requires.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors general health of program participants with weekly assessments which include review and follow-up of a needed medical appointments, labs, specialists or related matters. This includes weekly weighing of consumers.
  • Examines and evaluates consumers at program who are reportedly ill, injured, or whose medical equipment seems to be malfunctioning, reports findings and makes recommendations to appropriate individual(s).
  • Delivers nursing care to consumers as appropriate within the scope of the program.
  • Assists with emergency responses and is on-call for illness or injuries and is first point of contact by staff, Residential Administrator (RA) is second contact. Follows up with the RA in all incidences.
  • Reports any observed health of safety issues to Program Director and District Manager Residential Services.
  • Maintains administrative documentation associated with designated programs.
  • Evaluates staff training needs within realm of expertise and conducts necessary trainings.
  • Monitor medications log weekly, provide consultation if dosage is missed, given at incorrect time, immediately report to staff if present, next report to RA, RA to follow up if staff person not present. Uses form provided for follow up.
  • Monitors that proper procedure and notification is followed if a medication change occurs.
  • Monitors that proper Medication Review procedures are followed.
  • Back up assistance to RA to check and dispose of expired medications monthly.
  • Medication Training for all new employees within two weeks of starting. Completion paperwork to be left in RA's box day of training.
  • On-going training/retraining Re: medication, Universal Precautions, etc., at the request of RA, within two weeks of request.
  • ] Attends annual ISP/IPP meetings.
  • Attends other ISP/IPP meetings as needed.
  • Other assignments that may need the associate's expertise, knowledge or ability.
