The Registered Nurse is a leadership within the Community Residence partnering with the Residential Program Manager, Senior Counselors, Social Worker, Case Manager and Recreational Specialist. As a collective, the co-leadership team is responsible for the oversight of the health, wellness, and care of youth in the program. Knowledge of childhood trauma and the impacts is paramount. Knowledge of standard nursing care, protocols, health and physical safety, documentation, etc. is also required. The ability to forge positive relationships with youth and staff, internal and external customers at all levels, is crucial to success in this position. The Registered Nurse works closely with the co-leadership team and program staff in the design and facilitation of the program milieu and service delivery system, quality assurance measurements and agency goals. Assesses, treats, cares for, follows-up on and provides documentation for the healthcare needs of youth in care within the scope of practice for a registered nurse in the state of New York. This individual is directly accountable to the Community Residence Program Manager. Critical features of this job are described under headings below.   • Assists in the provision of overall oversight to the residential program, supervision of staff in the care of youth in accordance with all Glove House, state, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide oversight and direction to ensure the completion and maintenance of all departmental records and documentation. Complete all administrative documentation and leadership duties in accordance to Glove House program and regulatory standards.
  • Contribute to an engaging, positive work environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required.
  • Active nursing license authorizing practice in NYS as a Registered Nurse.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and driving record in accordance with agency standards.
  • 5+ years’ experience working in as a Registered Nurse, experience working with youth and families is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Health and Wellness for Youth and Families, General Nursing Protocols/Practices, Community resources, Trauma Informed Care Practices, State and Federal regulations,
  • Perform under strong demands in a fast-paced, diverse environment.
  • Handle confidential information appropriately.
  • Perform at a high level of autonomy, with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
  • Ability to write exceptional reports and correspondence. Utilizing computer and standard Microsoft Office, learn new computer programming (i.e., Myevolve, Paycom, et al.)
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of youth, family members, employees, County representatives, State regulatory personnel.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Work on multiple tasks, while maintaining a high attention to detail, accuracy and quality
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
