About The Position

St. Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee, IL, founded in 1897, is an 182-bed facility that provides 24/7 specialty and emergency care. The hospital is accredited as a Chest Pain Center by the American College of Cardiology (ACC), designated as a Primary Stroke Center by The Joint Commission (TJC), and holds several orthopedic accreditations. This Registered Nurse position is within the ICU, Critical Care department, with a night schedule (5p-5a), full-time, rotating weekends and holidays, and self-scheduling.

Requirements

Current and valid state RN License.
Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
Basic Arrythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
Minimum of one year as a staff RN in acute care hospital.

Nice To Haves

Completion of Critical Care Course preferred.
Critical Care RN (CCRN) Certification preferred.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice.
Directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of care in the ICU.
Directly responsible and accountable for the care given to his/her assigned patients.
Communicate with the physician about changes in the patient’s clinical condition including hemodynamic monitoring, results of diagnostic studies and abnormal results and symptomatology.
Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition and/or response to treatment.
Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.
