Registered Nurse - Intermediate Care Internal Job

This role is ideal for nurses who enjoy managing moderately complex patients while collaborating closely with an interdisciplinary care team. As a Step Down / Intermediate Care RN, you’ll play a key role in caring for patients who require closer monitoring than Med Surg but do not require full ICU-level care.
Requirements
- Minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN); BSN preferred
- Active RN license eligible to practice in Wisconsin
- Current BLS/CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire)
- ACLS certification preferred or required within a defined timeframe
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to safely use patient care equipment and meet physical and cognitive job demands
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English

Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care using the nursing process and evidence-based practice
- Perform frequent assessments and closely monitor patient condition, recognizing changes and escalating care as appropriate
- Administer medications, IV therapies, continuous infusions, and treatments safely and in accordance with hospital policy
- Monitor cardiac telemetry and other patient monitoring equipment
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary care team members to achieve positive patient outcomes
- Educate patients and families to support recovery, transitions of care, and discharge planning
- Respond promptly and professionally to patient needs, alarms, and call lights
- Recognize and respond effectively to emergencies and life-threatening situations
- Maintain a clean, organized, and healing patient environment
- Participate in unit-based Quality Assurance, patient safety, and performance improvement initiatives
- Support the orientation and training of new staff and nursing students as requested
- Practice within the Wisconsin Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies
