About The Position
Position Overview Department: Cardiovascular ICU Stepdown - CVICU Stepdown Schedule: Multiple Shifts Available Full-Time Nights, 7:00 pm - 7:00 am Work Location: UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham Benefits for eligible positions include: generous paid time off, paid parental leave, Associate Assistance Program, Tuition Reimbursement Program, and more CVICU Step-Down is a private 8 bed unit that specializes in cardiac care for patients who have had open heart surgery. You will see cardiovascular/thoracic patients and families that are post coronary artery bypass graft surgery (CABG), heart catheterization, stent placement, pacer placement, valve replacements, thoracotomies, and many other cardiothoracic surgical procedures Open to New Grads!
Requirements
- BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required
- Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND professional licensure at time of hire required.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.
- Implements and monitors patient care plans.
- Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
- Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
- Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
- Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
