About The Position

RN is responsible for providing assistance to physicians in the direct and indirect treatment of patients of Behavioral Health Services. The RN performs charting functions to ensure an accurate and complete patient record. Performs responsibilities with direction provided by the director and/or physician. Complete initial physical and psychological assessments for physicians and performs psychological tests as directed by physicians.

  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support W/I 90 Days - Sarah Bush Lincoln
  • BLS or CPR certification within 90 days of hire. - Sarah Bush Lincoln
  • RN-Registered Nurse - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation

Responsibilities

  • Assesses patients' conditions and care delivery through direct observation, rounding, and data input from other team members.
  • Assessment- Collects pertinent data and information relative to the patient's health or the situation. Recognizes normal and abnormal findings when gathering data.
  • Coordinates bed and patient care assignments during shift and in preparation for the next shift to ensure consistency in care delivery.
  • Coordination of Care- Plans and evaluates care in collaboration with appropriate disciplines for assigned patients.
  • Diagnosis - Analyzes assessment data to determine actual or potential diagnosis, problems, and issues.
  • Documents and reports care delivered to the physicians and other team members as needed.
  • Enhances professional growth through classes related to communication, teaching, stress management, conflct resolution, team building annually. (This is in addition to required unit/patient specific education.).
  • Evaluation- Evaluates progress toward attainment of goals and outcomes. Reports data and outcomes to as appropriate to physician and/or other disciplines.
  • Implementation - Implements care and supervises care delivered by other team members in alignment with the plan of care and approved safety and infection control standards.
  • Knowledge - In collaboration with Leader/Director, actively pursues required knowledge and skills through orientation activities specific to the unit, unit based in-service programs, reading current literature and seeking new clinical learning opportunities.
  • Outcomes Identification - Identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient or situation.
  • Planning - Develops a plan that prescribes strategies to attain expected, measurable outcomes.
  • Provides leadership and supervision to health care team during assigned shift.
  • Provides performance feedback to team members input to Manager/Director regarding appraisals.
  • Relationships - Establishes effective working relationships with peers, physicians, and other members of the health care team. Identifies and confers with appropriate resources regarding patient care decisions.
  • Serves as strong, positive role model for other health care team members.
  • Teaching - Employs teaching strategies to promote health and a safe environment.
