The Registered Professional Nurse (RN) is responsible for identifying alterations in the patient's health status and assessing the patient's human responses to actual and potential health problems. The RN implements nursing interventions based on theoretical concepts drawn from nursing as well as other arts and sciences, and evaluates the effectiveness of those interventions to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Whenever possible, the patient, family, or significant others are integral participants in the assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation processes conducted by the RN. In carrying out these responsibilities, the Registered Nurse upholds the organization's mission of excellent patient care and nursing's vision of setting a new standard of excellence in autonomous, accountable nursing practice-committed to patient advocacy and innovative care within a climate of trust and collaboration.
