About The Position

St. Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee, IL, founded in 1897, is an 182-bed facility that has been a cornerstone of specialty and emergency care, available 24/7. The hospital specializes in advanced surgical treatments for critical injuries and illnesses, ensuring care teams are attentive to unique health needs. St. Mary’s Hospital offers a range of specialty services, including heart care, cancer treatment, stroke care, and orthopedics, utilizing minimally invasive procedures with the latest robotic-assisted technology, along with comprehensive imaging and lab services, all conveniently located on one campus. The hospital is accredited as a Chest Pain Center by the American College of Cardiology (ACC), designated as a Primary Stroke Center by The Joint Commission (TJC), and holds several orthopedic accreditations. This Registered Nurse position is for the ICU, Critical Care department, on a full-time night schedule (5p-5a) with rotating weekends and holidays, and self-scheduling. A sign-on bonus of up to $10,000 is available for qualified candidates.

Requirements

  • Current and valid state RN License.
  • Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • Basic Arrythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
  • Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
  • Minimum of one year as a staff RN in acute care hospital.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of Critical Care Course preferred.
  • Critical Care RN (CCRN) Certification preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Critical care experience preferred (for the one year experience).

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
  • Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice.
  • Directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of care in the ICU.
  • Directly responsible and accountable for the care given to his/her assigned patients.
  • Communicate with the physician about changes in the patient’s clinical condition including hemodynamic monitoring, results of diagnostic studies and abnormal results and symptomatology.
  • Able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition and/or response to treatment.
  • Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.
