Requirements

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent preferred.
  • Proven experience in labor and delivery nursing, neonatal care, or related fields.
  • Strong knowledge of obstetric and neonatal nursing practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations and handle emergencies calmly.
  • Compassionate, patient-focused approach to care.
  • Basic life support (BLS) and neonatal resuscitation program (NRP) certification required; additional certifications such as ACLS are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to mothers during labor, delivery, and postpartum stages.
  • Monitor fetal heart rates and maternal vital signs to ensure safety and well-being.
  • Assist with labor management, including administering medications and supporting natural or assisted deliveries.
  • Care for newborns in the nursery, including assessments, vital sign monitoring, and ensuring proper feeding and bonding.
  • Educate new mothers and families on postpartum care, breastfeeding, and newborn care.
  • Collaborate with obstetricians, pediatricians, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient care and medical records.
  • Adhere to hospital policies, safety protocols, and infection control standards.
