About the position

Under the direction of the Director of Primary Care, Medical Director or lead clinical staff provides nursing support and clinical services to all areas of the organization, assesses patient health problems and needs, develops and implements plans, and maintains medical records. Advise patients and staff on health education, disease prevention and disease management. Provide training and quality assurance for the staff. Performs all duties in accordance with agency policies and procedures. This position is eligible for Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the Development and implementation on the protocol(s) for meeting OSHA requirements.
  • Provide required training for all new employees and semi-annual refreshers for all employees.
  • Provide public health screening and monitoring to include, but not limited to TB, flu, etc.
  • Coordinate paperwork and staff response for all 911 emergency personnel calls.
  • Perform health assessments as indicated or prescribed by the doctor, including recording patient's medical information, weight, vital signs, etc.
  • Triage patients in the clinic waiting room and upon referral as needed, to determine appropriate access to care, developing a preliminary medical and social assessment.
  • Provide quality assurance through random and standardized checking of medication administration forms and cassettes.
  • Provide backup coverage to Clinic and CSP nurses as needed.
  • Provide medication injections to Clinic and CSP patients.
  • Draw up insulin syringes for patient self-administration.
  • Set up and remove medications from the med cassettes for patient use or disposal.
  • Cross train for clinical activities for both behavioral and primary health care.
  • Assist in the assessment and Case Management activities of the PNCC/CCC Programs and external referrals.
  • Assist with developing and providing health education to PNCC/CCC clients.
  • Participate in child and adult immunization programs as directed.
  • Instruct employees and clients on topics such as health education, disease management and disease prevention.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
  • Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documents, etc.
  • Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations.
  • Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.

Requirements

  • Requires an Associate's degree in nursing (Bachelor's Preferred).
  • Minimum of two years of related experience with applied knowledge of medical and nursing terminology, and nursing practices and procedures.
  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
