About The Position

The Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurse I reports to the Wound Care Manager. Under limited supervision, the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurse I provides an in-depth plan of care for patients in a specialty area of wounds, ostomies and continence for all ages(neonate to adult) throughout the organization for inpatients and outpatients. This role coordinates nursing management and collaborates with other health care providers to implement programmatic changes. This position updates clinical practice based on current research and changes in the age and level of development of patients, with consideration of the needs of patients’ families.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited school of Nursing and a minimum of three years of applied related clinical work experience as an RN.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a wide range of groups and individuals.
  • Ability to work in close collaboration with patients, families, physicians and other health disciplines.
  • Knowledge of consultative and operational processes.
  • Current South Carolina or compact state licensure as a registered nurse.
  • A current CPR card is required; either an American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers card or an American Red Cross Professional Rescuer card.
  • Current WOCNCB, Wound and Ostomy (CWON) or Wound, Ostomy and Continence (WOCN) certification with additional Continence and Foot Care Certification (CFCN) preferred.
  • Wound and Ostomy Certification must be obtained within 12 months of hire.
